Carlos A. Pérez Ricart (Mexico City, 1987)

  

I am an assistant professor in International Relations at the Center for Research and Teaching in Economics (CIDE) in Mexico City. 


Prior to joining CIDE, I  was between 2017 and 2020 postdoctoral fellow at the University of Oxford where I worked at both the History Faculty and the Latin American Centre, St. Antony’s College. I hold a PhD in Political Science from the Freie Universität Berlin and has a degree in International Relations from El Colegio de México.


My general research and teaching interests include the relationship between Mexico and the United States, security and organized crime, arms trafficking, drug policies, and the history of the Mexican police. His research has been published (or is forthcoming) in journals such as Global Governance, The British Journal of Criminology, The Social History of Alcohol and Drugs, Kriminologishes Journal, Foro Internacional, Historia Mexicana, Revista Colombiana de Sociología and others. I  am co-editor of the forthcoming book Gun trafficking and violence: from the global network to the local security challenge (Palgrave, St. Antony’s College 2021).



Trabajo como profesor-investigador en el Departamento de Estudios Internacionales, Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE), y soy investigador posdoctoral en el Instituto de Estudios Latinoamericanos y en la Facultad de Historia de la Universidad de Oxford. 


Tengo grado de doctor en Ciencias Políticas por la Universidad Libre de Berlín (2016) y una licenciatura en Relaciones Internacionales por El Colegio de México (2011). Mis intereses de docencia e investigación incluyen el estudio de la relación México-Estados Unidos, seguridad y crimen organizado, tráfico de armas, políticas de drogas y teorías de formación del Estado. Mi investigación ha sido financiada por instituciones públicas mexicanas, alemanas e inglesas.
